The UPS Store

With over 40 years of franchising experience in the US, and over 30 in Canada, The UPS Store is clearly a proven business model. The over 5,700 locations across North America, including over 400 in Canada, reinforce that point.
Starting first as an alternative to the US Postal Service, The UPS Store is a full-service, one-stop shop for small business services including printing, mailbox services, shredding, packaging and of course, shipping. We carry the power of the UPS brand in our name. As one of the most recognizable brands in the world, the UPS brand carries with it a strong, trusted reputation. That recognition and trust carries forward to The UPS Store, offering credibility in the marketplace from the moment a new store opens its doors.
Traditional Locations
Our traditional locations can be found on main streets, in shopping plazas or within business parks across the country. For a traditional location, the total investment ranges from $210,500 - $293,500, and includes the franchise fee for a 10-year Franchise Agreement.
Non-Traditional Locations
Most recently, The UPS Store network in Canada has introduced a store-in-store model within Walmart locations in Canada. This new relationship places our brand in direct contact with millions of customers in conjunction with one of Canada’s leading retailers. The investment for an In-Walmart location ranges from $101,250 - $114,500 per location and includes the franchise fee for a 5-year Franchise Agreement.
In both cases, total investment includes centre design, build out, and construction. It also includes fixtures, signage, computer hardware and software equipment, and initial inventory. It also includes training.
Site Selection, Design & Buildout
Site selection is very important. Each centre will have defined territory that is assessed individually by The UPS Store Canada corporate office. We’ll help facilitate centre design and construction; evaluate the size and shape of your centre and create a custom floor plan; coordinate with local contractors to procure all construction permits and bids; order and install equipment and fixtures. This helps us ensure consistency throughout our network.
Training & Learning
Our training program covers opening to closing process and everything in between. When opening a new location, training generally rolls out as follows:
-
1 Day - 3 hours Training orientation meeting with the Director of Operations
-
30 Days of eLearning training modules
-
3 Days - 24 hours at a local The UPS Store centre with a Certified Trainer
-
2 weeks - 56 hours with The UPS Store University
-
2 weeks - 80 hours at a local The UPS Store centre with a Certified Trainer and eLearning.
The UPS Store is a proven business model capable of adapting to economic change, as was the case during the Pandemic in the 2020s and most recently during the Canada Post strike. The UPS Store franchisees are proud to be there for Canadians in those times we are needed most.
