Charlottetown Police Officer follows in family footsteps becoming an Entrepreneur

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI  August 30, 2020  - - DermaEnvy Skincare, A growing Canadian Laser, Skincare and Medical Aesthetics franchise, is continuing it’s national expansion with the opening of their seventh clinic,  in Charlottetown Prince Edward Island, awarding the franchise territory to local police officer, active community volunteer and born and raised islander, Kristi MacKay.

A 12 year veteran of Charlottetown Police Services as Constable and presently the School Resource Officer at a local high school, Kristi MacKay is following in the footsteps of family roots and tradition in becoming a third - generation island entrepreneur.

MacKay fell in love with the franchise model after becoming a regular client at the Moncton/Dieppe, New Brunswick clinic. “I was intrigued by the opportunity to bring this franchise home to Prince Edward Island; The fresh and clean clinical setting, treatment results and value for dollar make it unique in the Charlottetown market.”  MacKay said.

Opening a business during a pandemic presented a unique set of challenges. The Atlantic bubble allowed the clinic project to move forward as the franchisor is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia allowing travel between the two provinces.

An open house and ribbon cutting ceremony is happening Tuesday, September 1st at 11am to celebrate the opening of the clinic located at 39 Eden Street in the Midtown Plaza in the heart of the City of Charlottetown. The clinic will offer Medical Aesthetic Treatments such as Laser Hair Removal, Body Contouring, Skin Rejuvenation, Tattoo Removal, Microneedling, Teeth Whitening, Clinical Facials and Advanced Peels.

As part of their Grand Opening, DermaEnvy Skincare has partnered with Special Olympics PEI donating one dollar for each like on their Facebook page. The local charity’s annual fundraisers have been hit hard by pandemic limitations and this provided an opportunity to give back to the local community.

“We are excited to see the growth of the DermaEnvy Skincare brand and look forward to being a part of this beautiful province and community for many years to come. We are eager to introduce ourselves to everyone in the Charlottetown region and share what we do best - affordable, quality laser, skincare and medical aesthetics treatments.” said Cohen MacInnis, President of Wellness Brands Canada Inc., franchisor of the DermaEnvy Skincare brand.

The micro-clinic concept is unique in the industry with a focus on offering their clients small, private, and professional clinic environments. They have found that this model has been well-received by their clientele who often prefer a more personable and professional atmosphere over that of a traditional spa.

DermaEnvy Skincare, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is continuing it’s national expansion with clinics now located in five provinces including Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Ontario. The innovative franchise brand recently won a Special Hall of Fame Award as part of the Canadian Franchise Association’s 2020 Awards and continues to be an industry leader in Canadian Medical Aesthetics.
